INES ESNAL
LIVES / WORKS IN NEW YORK CITY
Inés Esnal is a practicing architect and artist based in New York. Originally from Spain, Esnal studied architecture at the Polytechnic University of Madrid. In 2007, she received a scholarship to pursue a Masters in Advanced Architectural Design (AAD) at Columbia University. After graduating she was awarded a fellowship by Fundación Caja Madrid for a project entitled “Digital Materiality”, through which she discovered potentials of printmaking. This formed the basis for her first solo exhibition, “Matterscapes”,at Leroy Neiman Gallery in New York (2009) followed by a solo exhibition at The Architectural League of Madrid (2010). Her most recent exhibition at the Cervantes Institute NY (2011) continued to explore the crossroads between two fields: Esnal’s art informs her architecture and her architecture informs her art.
